Gun Fitting
Having a shotgun fitted is like having a fine hand tailored Saville Row suite or ahand crafted set of golf clubs made specifically for you, this applies be it for a commissioned built shotgun from one of the fine gun makers or altering an off the shelf model from more commercial producers such as Beretta or Browning.
Although it is possible to shoot an unfitted gun, there will always be some type of compromise in your stance, style, and/or technique. This means, over time, you will inevitably incorrectly fit yourself to the gun to get an eye-barrel alignment and doing this will prevent you from achieving your full shooting potential.
A well fitted gun, one that now shoots to the point where the eye looks, must also control the effects of recoil and must be comfortable on the shoulder and face, so that there is no risk of bruising or injury during prolonged use.
A properly fitted Gun will ensure you enjoy successful and comfortable shooting for many years to come.

Keith’s Gun fitting Principles based on the teachings of Robert Churchill.

As many may be aware, my Coaching & Gun Fitting knowledge comes in direct lineage from Robert Churchill via my mentors Roger Silcox and Christopher Craddock. I am often asked by clients why this is so important and how did the background of these teachings form the bedrock of my own skills. Well, here is an extract from Robert Churchills book "How to shoot", first published in 1925. which is still as relevant today as it was back then and is the structure of my Gun Fitting sessions.

"From the client's point of view, he will be doubly benefitted, because Gun-Fitting so conducted includes shooting instruction of a kind to lay the foundations of future success. The stress which has been laid on having a gun
fit properly would not be complete without a companion warning not to be finicky when once all the service that fitting can render has been performed. The man who seeks in the fit of his gun an explanation for every miss and condemns it outright when he is temporarily out of form is liable to get into an unsettled state that will postpone natural recovery. In extreme cases those who expect too much from gun fitting visit one professor after another, and as most have ideas and fancies a good case can be made out for changes, some of them involving a fresh purchase. Provided a gun is as near right as an experienced and conscientious expert can make it the shooter should abolish all doubt and concentrate on making himself master of the weapon. There is much for him to do, for instance break himself of any bad habits that a previous gun of poor fit has engendered. In general, he must perform the final act of fitting, that is with practice fit himself to the Gun and as soon as may be, to give it the status of an old favorite".
