Mr Shep Hermann - British 3 day Trifecta
With this years British 3 day Trifecta of British Driven Shooting done and dusted last week, today I received this brilliant email from one of our Guns, Mr. Shep Hermann (2nd from left in the photo), who travelled from St.Louis.
I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the Trifecta. It was so well planned, so well executed, and done with such enthusiasm by all. It was also very interesting talking with all the people who brought their dogs. Best of all were the new friends t

After two years of hard work and what at sometimes felt like an uphill struggle, I am very pleased to announce that Green Acres Sportsman's Club is rejoining and affiliating to the Illinois Sporting Clay"s Association. At this moment in time we are not going to hold registered tournaments, however I can tell you that we are about to commence on works to expand our existing 10 Station 100 Bird course back up to 12 Stations. Once the new Stations are in place, which we plan to

So why did I miss?
Static target shooting (rifle and pistol) affords the opportunity for the competitor to see the result of the shot, analyse what went wrong and correct any fault. With a shotgun, when you miss a clay target you cannot see the tell tale signs of where the shot went - unless you have a coach at your shoulder to see where your barrels ended up pointing or observes another reason for the miss. Personal self analysis of a missed target is difficult, but you must learn how to achie

“Gadgets & Gizmos!”
I guarantee one of the first questions that a client coming on their first lesson asks me is what chokes and cartridges are the best combination for Sporting Clays? There seems to be a general belief that there is some magic formula—some combination of the two—that can compensate for gaps in their skills and that guarantees they will break enough targets to put them on the winners rostrum. The bottom line is that if you do not have an established method/technique that will co

It’s going to be great! “The Grand Battue” The Big Beaten Drive, brings together all of the elements of a great shoot, from warming up the barrels shooting multiple clay targets from our 60’ Tower simulated High Pheasant Drive, in readiness to tackle the live Driven Pheasant drives from our two woodland concealed towers. Stopping your gun!
Stopping your gun! To break a target successfully you must keep your gun moving throughout the whole sequence of the shot, the reason many shooters, particularly novices, stop their gun is because they suddenly look at the end of the barrels at the point of pulling the trigger, and take their focus off the target. This is known as “Making Sure” or “Checking Your Swing” and of course should be avoided, as soon as you look at the end of the barrel and the bead, at that vital mo
